As the German carmaker’s Hungarian unit in Szentgotthárd is expected to substantially increase its output on higher demand for Flex engines, headcount could grow by 500 this year from 1,400, managers of Opel said.

Sales of new passenger vehicles in Hungary rose 21% to 6,093 in December from the same month a year earlier, according to Jato Dynamics. Skoda led sales of passenger cars in December, invoicing 785 models. Runner-up was Ford, selling 728 cars, and Opel was in third place with 637 sales.

Rembrandt and the Painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a large-scale exhibition to run in the Museum of Fine Arts from 1 November surveys the period of 17th-century Dutch art, one of the golden ages of European culture. The exhibition is built around Rembrandt, the greatest master of the period, by whom 20 masterpieces will be on display.
