Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe*, today announced a change of the passenger handling service provider at Budapest Airport after it emerged that the subcontracted provider repeatedly failed to reflect the airline’s commitment to providing a friendly and hassle-free experience to passengers.

Hungary’s Jobbik Calls For Cancelling Measures To Control Soccer Fans

The radical nationalist Jobbik party on Tuesday called on the government to cancel measures introduced to control soccer fans. Deputy leader István Apáti said the legal rules in question have caused a drop in the number of spectators, lower ticket sales, fewer sponsors and decreased revenues from television broadcasts, which means clubs losing income in the range of 100 million forints.

Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) awarded German-based global solutions provider Scheidt & Bachmann a €91 mln five-year contract to design, supply and manage an automated multi-modal fare collection system, railwaygazette.com reported. Some €54.5 mln will be provided for the project by the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and HUF 5.3 bln by the municipality of Budapest.
