Eighth District Fidesz mayor Máté Kocsis and Budapest police chief Tamás Tóth yesterday called on owner state asset manager MNV and state railway company MÁV to cancel the rental contract of the Józsefvárosi market, due to a recent rise in crime there. Kocsis said the Négy Tigris Piac (Four Tigers Market) costs the state Ft 15 billion in lost tax revenue, according to estimates.

Around 100,000 Chinese live in Hungary, and Budapest has its own Chinatown, well, a sprawling China-shanty-town. It's a real oddity, and if not the most immediate of local attractions, it is a side of the city that's bafflingly interesting, in a grimy kind of way. ...
