The taxi drivers’ union welcomed that the tax office had launched an investigation into the ridesharing company Uber for providing taxi services without a licence. Zoltán Metál, the head of the National Association of Taxi Drivers (OTSZ), told public news channel M1 on Saturday that Uber is “not helping” the taxi driver profession, passenger services or Hungary’s reputation.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has expressed a willingness to help in arranging the disposal of hazardous waste at a depot in Illatos Road in Budapest’s 9th district. “When I get good news, I will go to Illatos Road and take a look around. I am trying to help”, Orbán said in connection with environmental pollution at the depot.

Train and bus passengers will soon be able to buy e-tickets for combined journeys throughout the country, the chief of the state company in charge of developing the new system said. The National Mobile Payment Company is developing a unified passenger information and electronic ticket system for multimodal public transport all around the country, Mihály Veres, the company’s chief executive, said.

Publimont Rejects Gay Ad Campaign In Hungary

Publimont, a billboard and vehicle advertisement company controlled by Lajos Simicska and Zsolt Nyerges, has rejected a campaign commissioned by gay dating website Melegrandi, news website Origo reports. The ad campaign would be the first in Hungary directly targeting the gay community, Melegrandi head Péter Weiler told Origo.
