Giro D’Italia Cycling Race Stages in Hungary “Exceeded Wildest Dreams"

Hosting the first three stages of this year’s Giro d’Italia cycling race “exceeded our wildest dreams”, government commissioner for an active Hungary Máriusz Révész said in a statement late on Sunday. Révész said “at least a quarter of a million people” encouraged riders along the route, contributing to “a sensational mood” and “exceeding all expectations of the Italian organisers”.

The 105th edition of the Giro d’Italia cycling race got under way from Budapest’s Heroes’ Square on Friday. Day one of the three-week race will see 176 riders from 22 teams cover 195 kilometres.
