A light aircraft carrying 11 migrants entered Hungarian air space and landed near the town of Kállósemjén, in northeast Hungary, The migrants, three Afghan and eight Vietnamese nationals, were apprehended near Kállósemjén following an extensive search that included the use of search dogs and thermal cameras.

The Hungarian Federation for the Blind and Partially Sighted celebrated its 100th anniversary in Budapest. The federation has 22 member organisations today, working for a better quality of life, inclusion and empowerment of the seeing impaired, Sándor Nagy, head of the organisation, said.

According to legend, Doubtful Thomas was sent to India by the resurrected Christ to be a carpenter at the construction of the king’s palace. Thomas did obey Christ, and worked for and lived with the foreign ruler for many years. Thus, he is considered to be the Patron Saint of the Carpenters and also the patron of marriage.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.
