The 22nd VOLT Festival In Hungary Ended As A Success

The 22nd VOLT Festival has ended Monday morning and has proved again that it is one of the most beloved festivals in Hungary. A record number of visitors have attended this time: during 5 days 120.000 guests have arrived to Lővér Camping and thanks to the live stream of Telekom and Ustream more than 500.000 people viewed the festival from outside the festival area.

As part of the ongoing series at the Hungarian National Gallery dealing with the life's works of outstanding Hungarian artists, this exhibition presents the art of one of the major figures from the period between the wars, Gyula Derkovits (1894-1934). The significance of Derkovits was recognized even by the critics, collectors and museum experts of his own age.

Painter Judit Reigl was born in 1923 in Kapuvár, and has been living and working in France since 1950. She is one of the rare artists of Hungarian origins who is recognised in the United States, and whose oeuvre uniquely combines the traditions of European and American abstraction.

Outkast, Manic Street Preachers and The 1975 were all new acts confirmed to appear in Hungary this summer, Sziget organizers revealed this week at a press event. They join acts announced earlier such as Queens of the Stone Age, The Prodigy, Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, Bastille, Skrillex, Placebo, Lily Allen and The Kooks. This is a retrospection intertwined with our present. The performance is based on Mussorgsky’ s Pictures of an Exchibition, who’s work represent a special atmosphere from another period of time. The past gets rephrased through today’s senses, while we plunge into the river of time looking for our roots and arriving into the present.
