When I came to Budapest many pints of Guinness ago, there weren’t too many places celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Now the city has many venues that embrace this joyous occasion, none more so than one of the original Irish pubs in town.

The Budapest Spring Festival will this year feature John Malkovich, Goran Bregović, and programmes marking the anniversary of the 1867 Austro-Hungarian Compromise and Zoltán Kodály’s death, the organisers said on Wednesday. Returning to the festival, Malkovich will perform a new piece for theatre and music scripted by German author Michael Sturminger.
