“Audi will be establishing a new research and development centre in Győr with an investment of 6.15 billion forints (EUR 19.7 million), one fifth of which is being funded by the Hungarian Government”, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced at an event in Budapest to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the automotive giant’s Hungarian subsidiary.

Ericsson and Magyar Telekom presented on Thursday the first 5th generation data connection in Hungary, reaching 22 Gbps downlink speed. The 5G connection was presented in Ericsson Magyarország’s Budapest research hub. The integrated radio technology of a 5G network enables 20 times faster downlink speeds than current mobile technologies, Ericsson Magyarország managing director Gábor Éry said.

The government should state its reasons for aiding the construction of an oncology centre in Vietnam with 60 million euros, opposition Jobbik said on Friday. The contract to aid the 500-bed centre had been signed by the Socialist government in 2009, Andrea Varga-Damm of Jobbik told a press briefing. In the time since, Vietnam has doubled its GDP while Hungary’s has declined, she noted.
