The national flag was hoisted with full military honours at Kossuth Square in front of Hungary’s Parliament building in Budapest on Tuesday morning on the anniversary of the 1948-49 Revolution and War of Independence and the Memorial Day for the Martyrs of Arad. Hungary’s flag will remain at half-mast throughout the national day of mourning as a sign of respect.

Osamah Al Abd Al Mohsen, the Syrian man who made headlines across the world after being tripped by a camerawoman while fleeing police with his child on Hungary’s border with Serbia, has been linked to the Al Nusra Front – the Syrian branch of the terror group Al Qaeda, the news website alfahir.hu has revealed, citing the "This is Christian Syria" Facebook page.

This large-scale festival is put on for the public every year on 20th August. There is an exhibition of Hungarian crafts, a water and an air parade, and a firework display. This day is also a national holiday in honour of Saint Stephen (King István I.), founder of the state of Hungary, as well as the festival of the new bread.
