Two new venues were added to this year's festival, two beautiful synagogues: one on Bethlen square and one in Hegedűs Gyula street. Organisers told XpatLoop, "this year’s multi-arts festival will have a wide variety of events featuring literature, music, dance, and children’s show for the youngest audience."

A while back Medián conducted a survey on anti-Semitism in Hungary. It just made its findings public. The document is almost forty pages long, full of tables and graphs, and defies being summarized in a few paragraphs. Hungary’s first Jewish Cultural Days festival is set to take place from May 28 to June 14, in Budapest and other large towns such as Sopron, Debrecen and Zalaegerszeg. The festival will feature a range of classical and light music concerts, theatrical and literary events, films and dance shows, with noted artists performing.
Nobel Laureate Author Imre Kertész Dies At 86

Nobel laureate author Imre Kertész died at age 86 after a long and serious illness, the publisher Magvető said. The novelist, essayist and translator was the first Hungarian to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, becoming a Nobel laureate in 2002.
