Each year, on 11 April, Hungarians come together to celebrate The Day of Hungarian Poetry. As a part of this event, held on the birthday of famed Hungarian poet Attila József since 1964, people young and old celebrated the inspiring achievements of their country’s greatest literary geniuses.

The Day of Hungarian Culture - the anniversary of poet Ferenc Kölcsey’s completing in 1823 “Himnusz”, the poem which later became the national anthem - was marked by celebrations held countrywide and in the Hungarian diaspora.

Two important string soloists are welcomed at this concert conducted by Domonkos Héja. Full and vibrant viola sound, performance suggestiveness and perfect technical preparation – these characteristics define the stage presence of German Tabea Zimmermann, and if we were to replace viola for cello, then the same would be equally true of the musicality of István Várdai.
