Kövér: Hungary Ally Rather Than Enemy To Romania

Romania may in the future realise that ethnic Hungarians are an asset rather than a hazard, while Hungary is an ally sharing values and interests rather than an enemy to Romania, House Speaker László Kövér said in Târgu Mureș (Marosvásárhely) on Wednesday.

The 21st Budapest Pride LGBTQ festival got under way on Friday evening. The events which will conclude on July 3 are organised by the Szivárvány Misszió (Rainbow Mission). The organisation’s head, Szilvia Nagy, called for political discourse not to be abusive, humiliating or degrading. She also expressed hope that the government spokesman would acknowledge Pride week.

Several cultural events, film screenings and discussions on topical issues such as migration will be organised at the Francophone Festival between February 26 and April 2 this year, organisers said. For the first time in Europe the public is invited to the exhibition 'Moving Walls 22 / Watching You, Watching Me'. It explores how photography can be both an instrument of surveillance and a tool to expose and challenge its negative impact. The exhibition is at the Open Society Archives and will run until December 8 and will then travel to Berlin.
