Two portraits by world renowned Hungarian – British artist Philip de László have returned to Budapest thanks to the British Government Art Collection that successfully bid for the paintings at the spring 2019 auction at Christie’s New York.

On view until 27 October 2018, from Tuesday to Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Várfok Gallery’s Autumn Season will begin with a solo exhibition of the work of the legendary, 97-years-old Françoise Gilot, to complement and coincide with the Taschen publication of the facsimile editions of her sketchbooks made in Venice, India and Senegal.

A painting by 20th century Hungarian constructivist László Moholy-Nagy represents the highest-value private donation of an artwork granted to a Hungarian museum since the country’s post-communist transformation, László Baán, the director general of the Hungarian National Gallery, said.
