The European Commission has raised its projections for GDP growth in Hungary to 3.7% for this year and 3.6% for 2018 in a fresh forecast. The projections for 2017 and 2018 were raised from 3.6% and 3.5%, respectively, in the EC’s spring economic forecast, released in May. The EC publishes such forecasts three times a year.

Hungary’s economy, adjusted for inflation, is expected to grow by 2.1 % this year, the European Commission said in its autumn economic forecast released on Wednesday. The commission revised its estimate downwards from its spring forecast of 2.5%.

Large retailers have recovered from the drop in revenue caused by Sunday shopping restrictions, the daily Magyar Nemzet said on Wednesday. Since the restrictions were lifted in April, turnover has rebounded. Retail chain Spar told the paper that 9 percent of revenue is generated on Sundays.
