With the cooperation of German, Romanian and Hungarian museums, a new website was launched this week on the life and history of Swabian communities along the Danube. Project manager Tamás Szalay told a press conference in Pécs that the initiative aimed to strengthen cultural, historical and economic ties between the German diaspora and Hungary, Romania and Serbia.

WWF has successfully concluded its largest conservation project in Hungary which revitalised a 3 km long side arm and brought back the natural floodplain forest of Liberty Island on the Danube River. Hungarian City Szeged To Get Ft 2bn Mobile Dam

Construction of a 2km mobile dam in Szeged will begin soon with Ft 1.5 billion in EU support for the Ft 2.1 billion project. The work will include upgrades of existing dams on the Tisza River. It will be possible to put the mobile dam in place within 24 hours after its completion, scheduled for June 2015.
