Jewish Community Closes Down Budapest Synagogues Over Coronavirus Fears

The federation of Hungarian Jewish communities (Mazsihisz) and Budapest’s Jewish community BZSH have decided to close down synagogues in the capital for two weeks, after a participant in a children’s camp in the city may have come in contact with the novel coronavirus, mazsihisz.hu reported.

In the spirit of this year’s prehistoric theme at the museum, on 6 October 2019 between 10:00 and 18:00 the Aquincum Museum’s Archaeological Park will host native Celtic and Germanic warriors and craftsmen, who will give visitors a peek into their daily lives.

The Central Statistical Office’s (KSH) “micro census”, conducted a year ago, has recorded the lowest number of children and the greatest elderly population in the history of such surveys, KSH reported on Monday. In 2016, Hungary had some 1.4 million children under 15, compared to nearly 2.3 million after WWII.

It's the 35th time that the best Hungarian press photos of the previous year are put on display. We could hold a celebration, as they usually do on such major anniversaries, we could enumerate numbers, records, and results. And we could list the names of everyone who has contributed to everything that has been created over the past years.

The Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre in Vörösmarty utca 35, District 6, opened in September 1986 in the Old Academy of Music building, previously used from late 1875 until mid-1907 for music teaching. Early photographs show that there were originally two buildings on the site at the time of inauguration but one building has since been demolished.

It is only about the path that the photographs go through from the judging of the annual contest to the vernissage of the exhibition.
