The majority of Europeans want more effective protections of the bloc’s external borders, according to a survey of citizens in 28 European Union member states by the Századvég Foundation. Fully 77% believed that the EU should be doing a better job of protecting the external border, Századvég said, adding that the same opinion was represented by 80-90% of centrists in Germany.

Twice as many Hungarian voters prefer Viktor Orbán, the incumbent prime minister, to his chief left-wing rival, Lázsló Botka, according to a survey by the Századvég Foundation. Fully 51% said they would prefer to see Orbán stay in his current position while 22% said they wanted Botka, the Socialist Party’s prime-minister candidate, to replace him.
