Despite some funds aimed at improved marketing, Hungarian wine exports have been pretty much stagnant for the past two decades. In 1985, exports stood at three million hectoliters – in 2016, the entire Hungarian wine production accounted for the same amount, only a fifth of which was export.

Xpat Wine Club held its spring event at Veritas Wine Bar on Friday 27 April, with the usual mix of new and veteran expats from a range of countries as well as Hungarians, all lubricated by that truth-promoting tipple. As at all Xpat Wine Club events, the atmosphere was open and friendly, easing the way to make new contacts and relationships, both business and personal.
