Hungary’s Fidesz Calls For More European Efforts To Fight Unemployment

Zsigó said the question of whether Europe could “do better” in its fight against unemployment was a burning issue.
Rather than spend their time with “futile debates” MEPs should focus instead on promoting the economy and creating jobs, and “get the EU’s leadership to deal with those problems”.
Zsigó, referring to fresh Eurostat figures, indicating that unemployment has not changed from February to March, said that though the number of the unemployed was down on an annual basis, “the EU cannot find the way” out of the unemployment crisis.
By contrast, Zsigó said that Hungary’s rate of unemployment was 7.9 percent in February, down by 3.3 percent from the same month in 2013, adding that “the number of those in employment has not been this high for the past 22 years”.
Further boosting employment and fighting joblessness would be a top priority for Hungary’s next government, too, he said.
