Between unfamiliar red-tape, local terminology, and trying to understand where to go when something goes wrong, the Hungarian system can initially feel confusing for many expats.
For nearly forty years, suicide rates in Hungary were on a consistent decline. However, a recent alert from the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK) suggests this progress has stalled. According to MOK, the downward trend broke in 2019, marking a turnaround not seen since the 1980s. The figures are stark: Hungary now averages one suicide every six hours.
Tisza Party president Péter Magyar on Wednesday welcomed the return of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán from his three-week holiday and then asked the government a multitude of questions to which he expects an answer at the government press conference on Thursday.
