For nearly forty years, suicide rates in Hungary were on a consistent decline. However, a recent alert from the Hungarian Medical Chamber (MOK) suggests this progress has stalled. According to MOK, the downward trend broke in 2019, marking a turnaround not seen since the 1980s. The figures are stark: Hungary now averages one suicide every six hours.
