Three New Shops Open at Budapest Airport

The new building section increased the capacity of Terminal 2A by several thousand square meters, providing a comfortable boarding and waiting area with amble room and maximum comfort, in this area passengers can also enjoy the products of Relay, Heinemann Duty Free and Cafe Frei since the summer.
The ribbon was officially cut at the entrance to the shops of Pier 1 a few days ago, marking the opening and handover to passengers of the Relay and Heinemann Duty Free shops and the Café Frei.
In the 11 500 square meter passenger circulation area, 2500 seats, drinking fountains, numerous toilet facilities and three new commercial unit from the three existing tenants, further enhancing the airport's offer. Not only departing travelers, but also passengers arriving from the Schengen zone can shop at Pier 1.
It is a priority for the airport operator to provide an appropriate environment, cooperation, and development opportunities for its partners.
Dr. Patrick Bohl, Head of Retail and Property Management for Budapest Airport said during the event: “The management is committed to developing the facilities, shops and restaurants located at Ferenc Liszt International Airport and to continuously increasing the passenger experience, in order to maintain and strengthen our regional competitiveness.
We won the Skytrax award for best regional airport, one of the most prestigious accolades in the aviation industry, which is based on passengers’ votes, for the eighth time this year. However, to retain this going forward, we must pay continuous attention to the product selection and the services of the airport shops as well.”
He added: “Even during the most difficult months of the pandemic, we supported our tenants, because enhancing the passenger experience is our common interest, our common effort and our common success.”
The six Relay shops operated at the airport by Lapker Zrt. offer a wide range of newspapers, magazines and books to passengers. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, András Rácz, the Chief Commercial Officer of Lapker Zrt. expressed his joy that in addition to their five shops at Budapest Airport, the company can now welcome passengers at the newest passenger hall as well.
Heinemann Duty Free is present at Budapest Airport with a total of six shops.
Thus, in addition to the SkyCourt, Terminal 2A and 2B, premium quality delicatessen products, cosmetics, accessories and toys are now available to passengers at the Duty Free shop located in Pier 1 as well. “We are very proud to extend our business at Budapest Airport, with the opening of our new Heinemann Duty Free & Travel Value shop at Pier 1.

In addition to coffee specialties, a wide range of teas, desserts and sandwiches are available to customers.
Dóra Szeles, the CEO of Cafe Frei emphasized in connection with the shop opening: “We are delighted that Cafe Frei is now present at both piers of Budapest Airport, and we can serve the world’s favorite coffees to guests in the moments before departure.”
Not only departing travelers, but also passengers arriving from the Schengen zone can shop at Pier 1 of Ferenc Liszt International Airport. Thus, they are not left without the products of Relay, Heinemann Duty Free and Cafe Frei even on their way out of the terminal.
