Plant-Based Food Market Grows 22% in Hungary
The market for plant-based food products in Hungary grew 22% last year, business daily Világgazdaság said, citing data from retail and consumer intelligence firm NielsenIQ.

The global measurement and data analytics company told the paper that in value terms, the market for plant-based substitutes for cheese, milk, and yogurt grew to HUF 23 billion last year from HUF 18.5 bln in 2020.

Plant-based drinks accounted for three-fifths of the market.

Branded products made up 85% of the total. Nóra Csuti, the marketing director for Danone Hungary, which sells Alpro brand plant-based products, said sales growth in the category has been "in the double digits for the past two years."
