Number of Green Cars Rising Rapidly in Hungary
The number of cars with a green number plate, indicating electric or hybrid vehicles, registered in Hungary stood at 56,666 at the end of August, up from less than 28,000 in January 2021, the Technology and Industry Ministry announced.

The number of exclusively electric cars rose to 30,472, from 7,700 three years ago.

With the help of the Green Bus Programme, which supports the replacement of the local vehicle stock, the ministry said, 76 electric buses have been put into service.

In the ministry’s vision for the sector, Hungary will be the European centre for the production of EV batteries, along with Germany, and the only centre for the development of autonomous vehicles, by 2030.
