Regional Comparisons of Car Fuel Prices to Be Officially Published in Hungary Every Week
The Central Statistics Office announced on Wednesday that it will publish weekly comparisons of car fuel prices in Hungary with prices in other countries in the region, starting on Friday.

The figures will be based on the Eurostat Weekly Oil Bulletin data and past data will be available back to January 2, 2023.

Economy Minister Márton Nagy has indicated that the government may compel fuel companies to lower their retail prices if their prices are above the regional norm.

The energy and utility authority MEKH receives weekly data from four oil companies and a retail chain on Mondays, the EU receives fuel data from member states on Wednesdays before publishing the EU data on Thursdays, and finally the comparison statistics will be released on Fridays, HVG adds.
