Official: Jobless Figures 'At Historic Low' in Hungary
The number of registered job-seekers in Hungary reached a record low in July, Sándor Czomba, a state secretary of the national economy ministry, said in a statement.

The state secretary quoted figures from the National Employment Service, and said that 224,000 job-seekers were on the records, over 3,000 fewer than in July last year, adding that the figures indicated a “continuous improvement”.

Since the second quarter of 2023, the labour market has increased by 44,000, including an increase of 39,000 in the number of economically active women, Czomba said.

The government continues its efforts to mobilise Hungary’s labour reserve of an estimated 300,000 people, he said, adding that the government had launched initiatives to that end, to be financed from a budget of 460 billion forints (EUR 1.16bn) until 2030.
