Keszthely Fest, 4 - 6 July - Charming Summer Festival at Western Side of Balaton
Over three days almost a hundred cultural and musical programs await visitors here, plus as a fresh addition 'Tolkien Days' will also be organised at this year's festival - you can see a video below about what happened last year.

The new Tolkien Days series is compiled jointly with the Hungarian Tolkien Society. Programs bringing the world of the author of The Lord of the Rings to life will be held in the courtyard of the Amazon House and the park of the Festetics Castle, and there will also be a costume parade.

Deputy Mayor Gusztáv Kendeh-Kirchknopf indicated that this time the Keszthely Fest programs will not only focus on the Main Square, but will also include the entire pedestrian street, where there will once again be a jazz stage and street musicians will entertain visitors.

Plus the pedestrian street, "a kind of cultural and tourist axis" of the festival, will also be an opportunity for local communities to introduce themselves, he added.

Kinga Tímea Stadler, director of the Goldmark Károly Cultural Center, explained that they will address all generations with these series of events, which will be one of the most colorful festivals around Lake Balaton this summer.

Well-known local performers playing at the fest include KFT, Marót Viki and Nova Kultúr Zenekar, Nemazalány X Sofi, Dj Yamina, Malek Andrea and Majsai Gábor.

Katalin Major, deputy director of the cultural center, talked about how they " turn down the volume" a bit in the Goldmark Courtyard , and more in-depth conversations will also take place here, for example with Zoltán Czutor and Livius Varga.

They also take care of culinary delights, with classic dishes, street food, but also vegan and gluten-free delicacies on offer.

In addition, wines are given a prominent role at the festival, thanks to the attendance of wineries from throughout the country.

Gergely Tóth, Mayor of Keszthely, spoke at the program's press conference on Wednesday about the program's largest budget, although they can only manage with two-thirds of last year's costs this year.

The festival will be realized from its own resources, 65-70 million forints, because it was not possible to obtain funding from a tender this year, he added.

This year it is organised by the Goldmark Károly Cultural Center, and will take place between July 4 and 6 - you can see a video below about what happened last year.
