EC Finds Hungary Ad Tax In Breach Of EU Rules

The European Commission said it found that a Hungarian tax on advertising is incompatible with European Union rules and ordered the country to recover taxes from companies that enjoyed an unfair advantage. The EC said the tax is in breach of EU state aid rules because its progressive tax rates grant selective advantage to certain companies.

Official: Pharaon Not In Hungary

According to Hungarian authorities, there is “no one by the name of Ghaith Pharaon” residing in Hungary, an interior ministry official told the daily Magyar Idők. If, however, Pharaon enters Hungary’s territory and it turns out that he is the Saudi businessman who is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), he will be arrested immediately, state secretary Károly Kontrát told the paper.

IT Services Hungary (ITSH) will invest 4.6 billion forints (EUR 14.9m) at its bases in the Hungarian cities of Szeged, Debrecen and Pécs, creating 360 jobs. The government is supporting the investment with a 650 million forint grant, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.

It’s been 150 years since Hungary’s very first zoo, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden in the heart of the capital opened its gates to the public on August 9, 1866, writes hvg.hu.
