Austrian state railway company ÖBB has delivered 10 used carriages to its Hungarian counterpart MÁV, which have undergone an overhaul and are ready for use. MÁV Start CEO György Záránd said Hungary agreed to buy 55 Lange-Schlieren trains with a maximum speed of 140kph from ÖBB after the Austrian company bought trains capable of 160-180kph.

Destillata, the largest-scale European competition of fruit brandys (pálinka), liquors, whiskies and other spirits, came to a close with outstanding Hungarian success. This was the 23rd occasion the most prestigious Central European championship of distilleries was held. The Budapest Transport Company (BKV) expects the number of fare dodgers to drop significantly once it introduces e-ticketing at the end of the year, business daily Napi Gazdaság said. Last year, the company spent 1.95 billion forints (EUR 6.4m) on increasing the number of security staff and 500 million on boosting inspection staff.
