App-based taxi company Uber has taken out full-page advertisements in Népszabadság and Világgazdaság today, arguing against the government’s ban on its service. The ad states that Uber has 150,000 users in Hungary and provides work to 1,200 honest taxpaying people, arguing that it is wrong to ban something that is loved by users.

Tax Office Finds 20 Unregistered Uber Drivers, Levies HUF 3.6m In Fines

Inspections of ride-hailing service Uber by the national tax office NAV since January 1 have uncovered 20 drivers with no tax numbers, the office said. NAV has so far conducted 250 inspections in the form of “test rides” and levied fines of 3.6 million forints (EUR 11,500) during the period, it said.
