Cabinet Submits Anti-Uber Bill

The cabinet submitted a bill to Parliament yesterday that in effect outlaws Uber and drivers who work for the company. The bill would make it possible to deprive drivers of their licence for six months if they are caught transporting passengers illegally for a second time and their vehicles could be withdrawn from traffic for up to three years.
Gyurcsány Wins Legal Case Against PM Orbán

Altus Zrt., Ferenc Gyurcsány's company, sued Viktor Orbán because in May 2015 Orbán claimed that Altus is a bogus company created for the sole purpose of generating revenue from the European Union to finance Gyurcsány's party, the Democratic Coalition - Hungarian Spectrum reported. Orbán has to openly express his regret for ever having made such a statement.

The ruling Fidesz party is calling on the government to release the names of those who were involved in the signing of the Budapest metro contracts with French engineering company Alstom. Alstom has recently been revealed to have transferred more than 597,000 euros to a company owned by the family of former Socialist prime minister Péter Medgyessy.

Budapest city council on Wednesday supported a contract between public transport company BKV and the Development Ministry on upgrading the M3 metro line with 28 affirmative votes and one abstention. The overall cost of the project on the north-south Pest line is Ft 139.5 billion.

Hungary’s budget is expected to run a cash-flow-based deficit of 1,166.4 billion forints (EUR 3.7bn) next year, well above the 761.6 billion gap targeted for 2016. The 2017 budget bill targets revenue of 17,374.9 billion forints and expenditures of 18,541.3 billion.
