The downtown Erzsébet tér Cultural Centre and Park will be upgraded with a concert hall seating 1,500 spectators and a studio to host socio-cultural events by next spring, ministerial commissioner Zoltán Guller told a press briefing. The unfinished underground rooms will be completed at a cost of Ft 1.7 billion.

The number of Hungarians working abroad for at least six months has risen to 250,000, or 4.4% of the active population, according to a survey by economic research group GKI. The figure has quadrupled in three years from the 60,000 reported in a 2010 study by economic researchers Kopint-Tárki.

Hungarians are more reluctant to report corruption than any other Europeans, according to a Transparency International survey. Only 30% of respondents said they would report corruption if they experienced it. Among the 70% who would not, 41% say reporting makes no difference and 21% say they are afraid of repercussions.
