On November 30, United Way Hungary held its annual fundraising gala in the Budapest Marriott Hotel. More than 180 guests, representing companies, institutions, NGOs, and volunteers, were invited to celebrate this year's achievements.

A packed house from Hungary’s international community united at the Budapest Marriott Hotel on Nov. 4 to mark Bonfire Night, celebrate organizer XpatLoop’s 23rd anniversary and #FeelGoodDoGood. The evening raised a record total HUF of 7.5 million according to the local charities involved.

Hungarian-born biochemist Katalin Karikó has been elected to the French Academy of Sciences as a foreign associate member and awarded the Lipid Science Prize of the Swedish Camurus Lipid Research Foundation.

Unlike Prague, Budapest is not known for being home to many public parks. So András Györfi took matters in his own hands and created a self-proclaimed Tree Commando to make the Hungarian capital just a little bit greener. Having already planted up to 250 trees personally, András believes that everyone should do their part to help save the environment. He certainly has.

Everyone marooned themselves at home, with no idea how long self-isolation from the approaching Covid-19 would last.
