Consumer prices in Hungary grew by an annual 2.2 percent in April, down from 2.7 percent in March, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Wednesday. Analysts in London forecast inflation at 2.1-2.4 percent for April. Consumer prices increased by 0.4 percent in April in a monthly comparison after flat-lining in March.

Hungarians’ monthly per capita spending on foodstuffs was at 20,400 forints (EUR 65.4) in 2016, up by 2.6% in current prices from the previous year, a summary of data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows. Retail sales in Hungary rose by an annual 3.6 percent in March, accelerating from 0.8 percent in the previous month, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday show. Adjusted for calendar year effects, retail sales were up by 5.6 percent, which KSH attributed to the effect of the Easter holidays.
