It explores how photography can be both an instrument of surveillance and a tool to expose and challenge its negative impact. Mayor István Tarlós has written to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán complaining that if the state does not help Budapest in funding the operations of public transport company BKV, then the cost to passengers will have to be raised five-fold. Tarlós raised the possibility of introducing a registration fee for children and pensioners, who travel free of charge.

Most of the buyers of Hungary’s residency bonds have been Chinese, Interior Minister Sándor Pintér said in response to a written question he received from an opposition lawmaker. Under the scheme, foreign nationals buying 300,000 euros worth of government bonds can obtain a residency permit that can be extended for five years and allows its holder to travel freely in the Schengen zone.

The retail authority MKEH has withdrawn the licence of travel agency Korzika Holidays, leaving 33 travellers stranded abroad. The company had little capital and ran into a difficult situation. The tourists will return to Hungary with the help of the agency’s guarantee deposit. Korzika could not keep up with recent changes in travelling patterns, CEO Sándor Zsila observed.
