Here's an invitation for Xpats to participate in one of Budapest’s most colourful family-friendly events. Organisers the Irish Hungarian Business Circle promises this parade will be a bigger and better than in previous years - and they were all great so far. This time it starts at Szabadság Square in downtown Budapest at 1.30 pm this Sunday, 22 March.

Going into the Corinthia Hotel is like going into another world and the VinCE wine exhibition just embellished that. It had many, many wonderful wines from all over the world to suit everyone’s taste. It also was a great reason, as I found, for many to take the afternoon off work on Friday and saunter around this maze of wine producers.

The first new CAF tram to serve the capital’s public transport users soon is on its way to the Hungarian capital on the back of two freight trailers. 47 Spanish-made CAF trams will form part of Budapest’s new fleet, including longer and shorter models.

Silard Isaak (Izsák Sipos Szilárd) was born 1977 in Herceglak, Croatia. Between 1998 and 2004 he studied theologie in the Selye János University, Komárom, Slovakie. This current exhibition is his first solo show in Budapest. The artist lives and paints in Basel.

The Hungarian state has bought Christ Before Pilate, a large-scale painting forming part of Mihály Munkácsy’s famous Christ Trilogy, from the Canadian owner.

This was a big festival, and for those who love fish and fish dishes this was the place to go. The Hortobágyi Fish Farm’s crew and the capitals of fish soups - Szeged and Baja - were on show. You could also find local restaurants and the best of the country’s street food restaurants.
