EIB Supports Improvements On Key Railway Infrastructure In Hungary

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending EUR 40 million to Hungary’s Railway Company GySEV (Gyor-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasut Zrt) to finance the purchase of new rolling stock and introduce safety improvements. This will help to provide higher quality railway services on the Austrian-Hungarian cross-border railway network along the strategic trans-European transport corridor.
Parlt Raises 2016 Budget Revenue, Spending Targets By HUF 422Bn

Lawmakers approved amendments to the 2016 budget act raising both revenue and expenditures by 421.7 billion forints (EUR 1.4bn). The amendments were passed with 121 votes in favour and 63 against. The MPs raised the revenue target from 15,800.4 billion forints to 16,222.1 billion forints. They increased the expenditure target from 16,562.0 billion forints to 16,983.7 billion forints.
Cogwheel Railway (Tram Line 60) Is Replaced By Bus In The Beginning Of May

On 5 May (Thursday), 9 May (Monday), 10 May (Tuesday), 11 May (Wednesday) and on 12 May (Thursday) 2016, from 8:30 to the last scheduled departures, the cogwheel railway is out of service due to geotechnical investigation in order that the renovation plans of the retaining walls could be made.

The Hungaroring is celebrating its 30th birthday this year and it’s as popular as always, with excellent prospects.

Tens Of Thousands Of Cyclists Turn Out At “I Bike Budapest” Procession

Tens of thousands of cyclists have taken part in the “I Bike Budapest” event on Saturday afternoon, the state news agency MTI has reported. The march began at Bakáts tér in District IX, central Budapest and arrived at Margaret Island some three hours later, where the cyclists traditionally held their bikes to the skies as the procession came to an end.
Hungary’s Gas Supply Secure, Says European Commission

Hungary’s gas supply would be secure even in a worst-case scenario, the national development ministry said referring to the Energy Security Stress Tests of the European Commission. The Commission said that if Russian gas shipments to Europe stopped entirely, Hungary’s reserves could still ensure household supplies, with limitations stipulated by law, the ministry said.
