Supermarket chain Tesco has concluded its portfolio reshaping and it can be expected that Tesco will continue its operations in central Europe. Earlier in September press reports speculated that Tesco could pull out of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland in the coming months.

Government office chief János Lázár urged the launch of a national infrastructure development programme, speaking at a conference organised by Portfolio.hu. The development programme will be used to fund the roughly 100 Hungarian companies that do not count as small and medium-sized firms and are thus not eligible for EU funds.

Magyar Telekom will invest in broadband internet connections for 230,000 Hungarian households as part of a deal that EU subsidies are not given for geographically parallel investments by other firms. Economy state secretary Ákos Kara told journalists that the Hungarian unit of Deutsche Telekom will build the networks with speeds of at least 30 Mbit/s by April 15, 2018.

Economic research institute Századvég has lowered its GDP growth forecast to 3.1% for 2015 from 3.4% forecast in June.
