Its doors did not open and the passengers took great pains to free themselves while the metro driver said amid profuse apologies that the remote-control system did not work.

Two metro trains collided on Budapest’s M2 line early on Monday, injuring ten people, Máté Kisdi, a spokesman for Budapest’s disaster management authority said. The accident happened after one train travelling in the direction of Déli railway station caught up with and ran into the back of another. Both trains were carrying passengers.
