An anything but dry second half of November, both in terms of the amount of rain falling and the wine flowing, saw a flurry of events for wine lovers with lots of new wines to whet jaded palates.

'Mitiszol' as the Hungarian language goes, is a relatively easy one to get your head around, especially when it involves your favourite pastimes: having a drink or two. Here in the modern setting of Millenáris you could tantalise your taste buds with a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and not. We went Saturday morning and it set up the weekend very nicely!

Five Hungarian companies signed agreements on doing business in China in the framework of the opening ceremony of the Chinese International Import Expo (CIIE). Dairy company Kőröstej signed a contract on deliveries to China, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.

(“me-tea-sol”, meaning “what do you drink?”) is the country’s first drink festival themed around beverages made with the same philosophy: respecting nature (in many cases organic or even biodynamic farming), no additives, as little intervention and manipulation as possible during the making.

Grew up in Santa Barbara California, doing a stint in the United States Air Force where they discovered I was better suited for other activities. Moved to Beverly Hills to go to college, graduating as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1985 whereupon I moved to Stockholm for, what was meant to be, a 2 year visit. Well, here I am still traveling the world.

The discovery of relatively unknown wine regions and vintners who ply their trade well off the beaten track is one of the great joys of being into wine. When friends, both Hungarian and foreign, noticed that I’d been getting bibulous in the Bükk region, several actually asked if they even make wine there.
