Last weekend we ventured out into the north-east region of Hungary and visited the beautiful city of Eger. The City of Eger is over a thousand years old, with its glorious historical past, valuable historical building complexes, wines and curative waters is one of the most famous cities of Hungary. It was a bishop's seat as early as during the reign of our first king, Szent István.

The biggest wine event in the Region was held at The Corinthia Hotel, between 3 and 5 March. It Started on Thursday with a “professional day”, and then opened its doors for connoisseurs on Friday and Saturday. You could sign up for an Organic Wine Tour on VinCE Budapest and find out what makes a wine “bio” and many more exciting wine related things to do.

The Gajdos Winery's 2009 Cabernet Franc Selection wine has won a grand gold medal at the MUNDUS VINI BioFach International Organic Wine Awards in Germany. The Gajdos Winery operates in Egerszalók, within the Eger wine region. The winery produced organically certified wines using exclusively ecologically cultivated grapes.
