Pope Francis has sent greetings to Hungarian President János Áder and all Hungarians on the occasion of the country’s August 20 national holiday, Áder’s office told MTI on Monday. “I am pleased to send cordial greetings to Your Excellency and to all the beloved citizens of Hungary on this happy occasion of your National Day, under the patronage of Saint Stephen,” the Pope said in his letter.

President János Áder hosted a gala dinner in honour of Ernő Rubik, who invented the famous magic cube 40 years ago. Rubik told MTI earlier that he had originally designed the cube for his students to help them improve their sense of space. Several hundred million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold all over the world since the first model appeared in 1975.
