Hungary Rewards Olympic Gold Medalists With Ft 35 Million

The Hungarian Cabinet approved the payment of Ft 2.2 billion in bonuses to Hungary’s most successful athletes at the London Olympics, as well as to support staff. The one-off payments range from Ft 35 million for gold medalists to Ft 2 million for those who finished eighth in their competition.
Hungarian Olympic Committee's Recommendation For Financial Reward Of Olympians Adopted

Government Spokesman András Gíró-Szász has announced that the Government adopted the recommendation of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) regarding the financial reward for successful Hungarian Olympians. According to this, gold medallists are entitled to HUF 35 million, silver medallists to HUF 25 million, and bronze medallists to HUF 20 million.

The body of missing police psychologist Kata Bándy was found in Pécs on Wednesday. Bándy was killed, based on initial findings. A special investigative team has been set up to lead the inquiry.
