The Budapest Public Area Maintenance Company (FKF) has been roaming Budapest with twenty sprinkler vehicles in recent weeks, using a daily 3,500-3,800 cubic meters of water to cool roads in the summer heat, according to a report by business news site Mfor.hu.

Budapest’s public transport company BKV will grant its employees a wage hike of average 15% under an agreement reached by the management and trade unions on Friday, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós announced. According to the mayor, basic salaries will be increased by 10%, by at least monthly 28,000 forints each.

However, these cameras are not suitable to be used as a basis for fining drivers, the police declared. Last week, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós told drivers who had been fined based on public space surveillance camera recordings not to pay their fine.
