Only 11% of Hungarians are not planning to go on vacation at all this summer, CIB Bank said, based on its representative survey. More than half of Hungarians want to go on a vacation that lasts at least 5 days, the survey showed. Around 35% are planning to go on one big vacation, and 17% are planning two or more bigger trips.

The season’s last Grandhouse luncheon on June 16 hosted Dame Jane Goodall of chimpanzee fame before a blockbuster rapt audience of 85 guests, a roster of ambassadors among them, this time not as usual at the Academy of Science but at Kogart House gallery restaurant along the World Heritage listed Andrássy út.

Lajos Som, bass player with the 1970s and 1980s rock group Piramis, was an informant for the communist-era authorities, he told Best magazine at the weekend. Som, now 68, said he was approached by police the day after he spontaneously played excerpts from the National Anthem at a concert, and that they asked him to report on “anything detrimental to Hungary”.

After gaining a BA in Business Administration she moved to Australia, where she started her career in the field of recruitment, but also drew inspiration from the vineyards of Barossa and Hunter Valleys to move towards the wine business.
