Socialist Leader Calls For Better Pension System

Pensioners should feel safe not vulnerable, and they should feel proud not poor, opposition Socialist Party leader Gyula Molnár said. The Socialists see issues around Hungary’s 2.7 million pensioners as cardinal, he told the conference on the sustainability of the pension system organised by the Friedrich Ebert and Táncsics Mihály foundations.

Wages for unskilled workers will be raised by 15% and for skilled workers by 25% in 2017, according to Hungary's economy minister, Mihály Varga. He said that in 2018 the minimum wages will be increased by a further 8% and 12%, respectively.

Promenade Gardens Welcomes Its Anchor Tenant

Prior to the foundation stone being laid for Promenade Gardens, a new large-scale, sustainable office building on Váci út, a press statement sent to the Budapest Business Journal today announced that Celanese Hungary Ltd. will set up its 4,200 square-meter headquarters in the building from April 2018. Colliers International has been assigned the tenant representation mandate.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported, especially British Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE for warmly encouraging guests to "dig deep", together we raised HUF 4.236 million.
This is a record fundraising result for XpatLoop's annual bonfire party, with 250 guests uniting for charity. Her Majesty's Ambassador to Hungary wrote afterwards: "Really enjoyed it, very good event." Read on for more ...
