The 'National Cheese Contest of European Nations' was organised for the first time in Hungary by SZEGA Foods, in their new ‘Covent Garden’ style delicatessen, in the basement area of Budagyöngye shopping mall. Guests could subsequently taste the cheeses during the wine festival too.

What can one say about the newly introduced ethics textbook for Hungarian fifth graders? For starters, it is not, strictly speaking, an ethics text. Ethics is not a branch of religion, and being ethical is not the same as following the law or adhering to societal norms. So a textbook that lauds religious virtues and advocates unquestioning civil obedience doesn’t belong in an ethics class.

I was intrigued to find out exactly what street food was on offer this weekend, in downtown Pest, at the historic Hold Street covered market hall. To my surprise, so were many more, who gravitated to this very popular occasion. Held in the elevated part of the market, you could meander around and take your pick at the many different foods and drinks on offer.
