Modigliani Nudes & Sculptures Exhibition, National Gallery, Now On Until 2 October
- 28 Aug 2016 6:55 AM
The exhibition showcases the main stages and changes of style in the work of Modigliani as well as his relationships to other contemporary artists through sculptures, paintings and drawings.
The myths surrounding his life and the record prices for which his works are sold at auctions often distract from Modigliani’s real artistic achievements. He became one of the great artists of European modernism without ever departing from classical genres and shapes.
The portraits, nudes, and sculptures are grouped into five big sections to display the diverse oeuvre of the Italian artist. The exhibition was organised by the Hungarian National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Réunion des musées nationaux and the Lille Metropole Museum, as well as the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki.
Artworks arrived from museums in Vienna, Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Paris, Philadelphia, and Dallas. According to nol.hu, the Modigliani exhibition will follow the incredibly successful Picasso display at the Hungarian National Gallery, which has already attracted more than 50,000 visitors, and will be open until July 31.
Venue: Hungarian National Gallery
Address: Buda Palace Building A-B-C-D
