Another Thief Caught At Airport
Airport Police Friday morning caught a baggage-handler in the act of stealing from a suitcase at Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The man, a 44-year-old resident of Vasad, opened a suitcase bound for London three times to look for valuables in it when detectives caught him red-handed.

In a search of his home, police found large quantities of perfume, jewels, watches Mexican pesos and Russian roubles.

Airport police stepped up their surveillance of baggage handlers early this month following numerous reports of items stolen from luggage.

HírTV has reported that with one exception the thefts made public were committed by employees of Turkish company Celebi.

HírTV says these are not isolated incidents, as well-organised criminal gangs are looting baggage at Ferihegy and the ground crew companies or sub-contractors doing the loading are supposed to stop their operation.
