One of Largest Parks in Budapest Prepares for Overdue Upgrade
One of the largest parks and perhaps in the worst condition in Budapest is to be upgraded as the city has invited bids for the renovation of the Népliget park in the 10th District.

Mayor Gergely Karácsony said the basic concept behind the renovation is to turn the park from a closed and abandoned park into a community space full of life, variegated and recalling its heyday while preserving its green surface values.

Karácsony wrote on Facebook that the first step in the strategic plan for Népliget has been completed by involving inhabitants on a broad scale, in co-operation with state figures and district local councils.

The next step is to launch a competition for landscape architecture ideas in order to decide how the park should look in the future.

Results of the tender are expected to be made public on April 14, 2023.
